1974 RESULTS: Sheik loses; last Tunney shows for Thesz, Brower

Andre the Giant defeats Sheik by DQ on August 11 to end an undefeated streak that began in February 1969. Earlier in the year, the Sheik had thrown fire for what I think was the first and only time in Toronto (it was a Sheik staple in other territories).

Maple Leaf Gardens debuts for Abdullah the Butcher, Archie Gouldie, Mr. Fuji, Chris Markoff, Bob Dellaserra, the Alaskans, and Abdullah Farouk as a wrestler -- as well as The Crusader, who was revealed to be old Gardens favourite Dewey Robertson under a hood.

Final Tunney shows in Toronto for Lou Thesz, Bulldog Brower, Baron Mikel Scicluna, Luis Martinez, Ben Justice, George Cannon (who would go on to promote in opposition to Tunney), and Terry Garvin.
