Helping tech startups and supporting the commercialization of innovation in Southwestern Ontario
For the last 10+ years, I've worked with organizations accelerating regional economic development through the creation and growth of innovation-based companies in Southwestern Ontario. I've helped early-stage technology companies develop business cases and marketing and business strategies, attract investors, and connect with resources in the community and across the country. After being based in Waterloo for over 15 years, I spent a year working with startups in London, Ontario through TechAlliance and was also co-instigator of StartupCampLondon. At TechAlliance, I created and have taken on a new role supporting the growth of innovation-based companies in small urban and rural areas, bringing the resources of the Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation's Ontario Network of Excellence (ONE) program to a region from Goderich to Simcoe, and including Sarnia, Chatham-Kent, St. Thomas and Tillsonburg.
In 2004, I founded WatStart, the Waterloo Technology Startup Network with Tech Capital Partners, and the following year started up Communitech's venture services group, overseeing initiatives related to startups for nearly four years.
I've also worked with the Accelerator Centre and the University of Waterloo's Office of Research, and provided advisory services through MaRS' Business Mentorship and Entrepreneurship Program. From 1997 to 2010, I published the Waterloo Tech Digest, delivered to 5,000 subscribers each month.
Blog
I haven't integrated it into the new site yet, but my blog is still up.
All good things ...
If you're looking for the Waterloo Tech Digest or tech company list, I'm afraid they're not here anymore. Since I'm no longer working in Waterloo, I just don't have time to keep up on the Waterloo Region-Guelph scene the way I did.
